> Location: Located at the north of the state at coordinates 19 º 58 'north latitude and 101 º 08' west longitude at an altitude of 1.840 meters over sea level. Bordered on the north by the State of Guanajuato, northwest to Santa Ana Maya, on the southeast by Alvaro Obregon, to the south and west Tarímbaro Huandacareo, Copándaro and the state of Guanajuato. The distance to the state capital is 34 kms. To the municipality communicates federal highway section No. 43 Morelia-Salamanca, access to Mexico-Guadalajara highway. It has lined paths to all its communities. The municipality has post offices, telegraph and telephone service household public kiosk, mobile phone coverage and foreign transport
> History: During the prehispanic era, was influenced by several cultures, such as Chupícuaro, Teotihuacan and Toltec. Later formed part of the peoples conquered by the lordship Tarascan. With Spanish rule Cuitzeo becomes entrusted of Gonzalo Lopez and then to the late sixteenth century, it is establishing "India’s Republic ". In colonial times, Cuitzeo gets the spiritual conquest through the Augustinian friars Francisco de Villafuerte and Miguel de Alvarado, who initiated the convent construction in 1550, considering by November 1st, the foundation of colonial Cuitzeo. In the first Territorial Law of 1825, appears as part of the Northern Department and on December 10th, 1831, is upgraded to a municipality. It belonged to the party of Puruándiro and in 1863 to the Morelia District. In 1861, it was called it head "Cuitzeo Village of the Future".

Architectonics: Convent of Santa Maria Magdalena, Agustina order of the sixteenth century church of Franciscan Hospital of the eighteenth century; church of Santa Magdalena, of Conception, San Pablo and Calvary, Virgin of Guadalupe Sanctuary and the parish church of Augustinian Monastery ; chapel of the Infant Jesus, in the town of Cuamio; Church of St. John the Baptist in the town of Jeruco; church of San Agustin in San Agustin del Pulque.
Archaeological: Zone located at the northwest of the Cuitzeo´s Lagoon, on the hill of Manuna.
Paintings: Oil of the Virgin of Guadalupe; religious paintings inside the convent, recorded with various motives of prominent writers like Leopoldo Méndez and the Michoacan artist Alfredo Zalce, located in the convent.
Sculptures: Religious images in churches, some of the sixteenth century; an organ in the convent, with metal sellerie and metal pipes, sculptures of Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz and Freedom Road in the county seat.
Museums: The Augustinian Ex-Convent of Santa María Magdalena was transformed in a museum.

> Crafts: Products of vegetable fibers: baskets, mats, rugs, etc.
> Gastronomy: Consumption of pulque, turkey’s mole, corundas, tamales, uchepos, corn tortillas painted with vegetal colors, nacatamales, sweet grain esquite-minnows, white gruel, black gruel, boiled and roasted corns, sweet pumpkin , mesquite cooked with brown sugar, the former Charamusca with white gruel, etc..
> Turistic Centers: The municipality has several tourist landmarks of tourist interest, in addition to an archaeological site and found on the banks of Cuitzeo´s Lagoon.
