For the month of December, the Mexican Association of Real Estate Professionals (AMPI) in Quintana Roo expects a rebound in sales of at least 30 percent, since during the last summer that market began to recover, especially in condominiums, not the luxury residential item, said Guadalupe Duran, president of that group.

He explained that the economic recession that was built from 2008 set an international precedent by shrinking markets in tourist destinations, but for some the problem has not been serious in Quintana Roo, the impact was greater because of the condition to be an emerging market opportunities and a greater number of people seeking this plus on their property.

"With the expectation of increased health problem and a crisis arose worse even than after the terrorist attacks of September 11 in America," he said.

Until a year ago, the housing market remained in Cancun true climb at a rate of 15 percent per year, with sales up to $ 650 million, however the conditions of the past months have backfired and the market fell more than 25 per cent.

"We now hope to regain some of what has been lost, because December is a good month for home sales, especially for Canadians, who already have these dates a very harsh winter with heavy snow and look for a tropical like the Caribbean closes for a second home, "he said.

He also said that domestic investors is what has kept the housing market because many people in the north are buying a second home in Cancun.
