The housing sector in our country is one of the strengths of the family economy facing the international financial situation. This was assured by Ariel Cano Cuevas, General Director of the Comisión Nacional de Vivienda (National Housing Commission), who stressed that in the housing subject, President Calderon’s government estimates an investment of 287.666 billion pesos for 2009.
Mr. Cano, in charge of the national housing politic, stated that through Fonhapo, Infonavit, Fovissste, Sociedad Hipotecaria Federal, Asociación Hipotecaria Mexicana and Conavi, the Federal Government will offer credits for such amount besides channeling resources for sofoles funding.
During the plenary meeting of the Cámara Nacional de la Industria de Desarrollo y Promoción de Vivienda of Valle de México, Ariel Cano Cuevas stressed that the Federal Government will continue offering its support to the sector, because it has also a favorable impact in the 37 branches of the national economy, and benefits more low-income families.
In this sense, he said that the low-income population demand is massive, and therefore housing production should be focused to this segment, and for that the government is taking the necessary actions to solve liquidity and financing problems in the construction of houses.
In sustainability and environmental care issues, Cano Cuevas assured that for the Federal Government it is very important to link assistance “This is your House” with the sustainability issue, because according to the studies carried out by the Comisión Nacional para el Ahorro de Energía, the Federal Government will save up to 100 thousand pesos in 15 years per house, with the implementation of energy-saving technologies.
